Eight years after the beheading of Anne Boleyn in the BBC’s adaptation of Wolf Hall, filming is to start on the final series of Hilary Mantel’s Tudor trilogy.

Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light will pick up the story of Thomas Cromwell’s life in May 1536 as Henry VIII prepares to marry Jane Seymour following his second wife’s execution.

Mark Rylance, 63, will reprise his Bafta-winning role as Henry’s chief fixer as he tries to balance the demands of a capricious master with seeking to do what he believes to be right.
