Nicholas Barber CBE writes: Nick Kuenssberg (obituary, October 3) ran Wadham’s Commem Ball in June 1963. He did so with huge drive and charm, almost single-handedly, leaving the others of us on his ball committee with no more onerous duties than selecting the champagne. Particularly impressive was his success in securing the celebrated Bernard Brabin to do our cabaret. The ball soon sold out. It was then a bad moment when with only 48 hours to go Nick got a message that Brabin had pulled out. Nick pressed the agent to find a replacement. He did, apologising that the man was an unknown but nevertheless an up-and-comer who was unlikely to let us down. His name was David Frost.
