Steve Clarke seeks competitive Euro warm-ups despite winless run
Scotland will attempt to find strong opponents before next summer’s finals, rather than source weaker teams to boost morale after five games without victory

Scotland will attempt to find strong opposition for their four warm-up games before Euro 2024 despite the temptation to source weaker teams to boost morale after five matches without a win.
There will be the chance to cherry pick opponents for two friendlies in March and two more in June, immediately before the finals start in Germany. Those four fixtures will give players 360 minutes to play their way into Steve Clarke’s 23-man squad. The vast majority of the group looks settled and predictable but there are unresolved issues about the two back-up goalkeepers to Angus Gunn, cover in central defence and the fourth striker after Ché Adams, Lyndon Dykes and Ryan Christie.
