An Irish warzone journalist who was killed in Ukraine has been remembered as a “true Dubliner”.

Pierre Zakrzewski, a veteran Fox News cameraman, was killed after the vehicle he was travelling in was struck by incoming fire on Monday, the network said yesterday.

The 55-year-old was on assignment with the journalist Benjamin Hall when they came under attack outside Kyiv, the Fox News chief executive Suzanne Scott said. Hall remains in hospital.

Brent Renaud, 50, a US journalist working in Ukraine, became the first journalist reported to be killed in the conflict on Sunday. He was shot dead in the town of Irpin, outside Kyiv.
