The Christmas advent calendar market is huge — they come in every shape and size, covering crafts to clothing, cosmetics to confectionery. The hold that the Cadbury’s advent calendars had on every mantelpiece the length and breadth of the country is long gone. The cynics among us would argue it’s just a money-making ploy. But for those of us who love Christmas and, well, joy, it makes the whole of December a present-packed bonanza and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it.
Who wouldn’t want to wake up to a pair of solid gold hoops from Astrid & Miyu? And then wander to the kitchen for toast with Fortnum & Mason’s marmalade for breakfast?
