Michael Corcoran’s wacky posts on social media celebrated the airline’s foibles

The adage that there’s no such thing as a free lunch is certainly true when you fly with Ryanair. But the low-cost carrier has decided to make a virtue of its stingy reputation.

The man behind the online persona that everyone loves to hate is Michael Corcoran, who until recently was Ryanair’s head of social media.

On Twitter/X and TikTok, Ryanair humorously trolls customers and mocks its own strict policies. As well as fees for extra baggage, legroom, and checking in, the airline has made passengers pay £39 to bring pastries on a plane.

Given the plethora of add-on fees, making light of customer complaints may not seem like the best approach. But the budget airline has amassed 2.1 million followers on TikTok alone
