A high-end jewellery brand that is among the Queen’s favourites has made a “substantial” donation to help pay for the upkeep of gardens at the King’s stately home in Ayrshire.

Camilla has often been spotted wearing quirky brooches and elegant bracelets made by the French company Van Cleef & Arpels.

Now the firm has made a substantial donation to the upkeep of gardens at Dumfries House, the Palladian house her husband saved for the nation.

The gardens at another two royal residences — the Castle of Mey, in Caithness, a favourite haunt of the King’s grandmother, and Camilla and Charles’s home at Highgrove, Gloucestershire — will also benefit from funding.
