Influencers fly to shop there and its paper bags sell for £6 on eBay. As more locations open, can it finally bring its cosmetics revolution to Britain?

People visit America for many reasons: national parks, vibrant cities, Disney ... but for Laura Capon, the main attraction is a shop. A shop called Sephora. Capon — a beauty editor and influencer based in Britain — went to New York six times in six years, largely because she loves Sephora so much.

In Los Angeles this summer, she went into every Sephora store she saw, stayed two hours in each and spent almost £300 on make-up and skincare. “You’d come back to the UK and have all this cool stuff that no one had heard of or seen before. I just love spending there” she says.
