Last week was Longevity Week, a chance to think about the challenges and opportunities that past increases in life expectancy present to us. Perhaps in a world plagued with uncertainty and with British growth stagnant, you might think that adding ageing to the list of issues on our plate, with all its associated costs of increased pensions and healthcare, is the last thing we need. But that would be 100 per cent wrong. Appropriately managed, longer lives can deliver a triple dividend of higher economic growth and business profits and a boost to our individual wellbeing.
