Gazans in desperate search for food

As the rain poured down on the cluster of tents, Mohammed Shabir searched the streets, cash in hand, looking for something to buy.

“I have money but I can’t find anything to buy,” he said. “I went to the supermarket to buy some beans, lentils or pasta but there was nothing.”

Shabir evacuated his family from the Jabalia camp in northern Gaza after their homes were destroyed in an Israeli airstrike that killed 126 people.
