France re-wrote the record books with a 14-0 thrashing of Gibraltar at the Allianz Riviera in Nice — the biggest margin of victory in European Championship qualifying history. Kylian Mbappé led the way by scoring a hat-trick and assisting another three goals.
As if the task was not hard enough for the visiting team, who are bottom of group B having lost all of their seven matches, they had to play about 70 minutes with only ten men after Ethan Santos was sent off.
Indeed, it was Santos who started the rout when he put through his own net after three minutes. Marcus Thuram and Warren Zaïre-Emery had added further goals before Santos got his marching orders in the 18th minute.
