Derek Adams has been confirmed as manager of Ross County for the third time.

The 48-year-old left English League Two side Morecambe — who confirmed that a release clause had been activated to enable the departure — to return to the cinch Premiership side.

Adams, who was in charge of County between 2007 and 2010, as well as 2011 and 2014, replaces Malky Mackay, who was sacked last week after a nine-game winless run.

A statement released by County, who did not divulge the length of Adams’s contract, read: “Ross County are delighted to announce the appointment of new manager, Derek Adams. Derek joins the club for his third spell in the role, having spent nine years managing in England with Morecambe, Bradford City
