One of the many reasons I’m not on Instagram is the quotes. “In a world full of hate, be love”, makes me feel violent. “No rain, no flowers.” Bleugh. The worst, though, are the happy quotes, morons burbling on with something Gandhi or the Buddha said that makes diddly squat difference to anything, least of all my mood.

So thank heavens for a new genetic test, which shows that our happiness, or lack of it, might be largely determined by genes and not, for example, inspirational quotes. Thanks to the unceasing hard work of scientists at the London Medical Laboratory, a simple saliva test can now tell you if you’re going to be a miserable bastard forever, or if it’s just a passing phase.
